Recitals at the Space - November

November: Lyrical and dramatic works for flute and piano, including a wonderful sonata by Handel, Fauré’s vivacious Fantasie, and the premiere of ‘Suite for Kerin’  by Andrew Campling. 

An hour-long recital by Rachel Smith, flute and Andrew Campling, piano

Followed by complimentary tea and coffee. We will also be hosting a fundraising bake sale after the performance.

Rachel Smith – flute

Rachel studied at Royal Holloway, University of London and the Royal Northern College of Music, and in 2013 graduated as a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Salford, Manchester. Her playing has inspired new works from several British composers, some of which feature on her first CD Summer was in August. Rachel is currently principal flute of the Band of the Coldstream Guards, with whom she has toured worldwide on concert tours including numerous solo performances across Europe and Japan. Rachel has recently featured as a soloist at the Royal Albert Hall Gubbay Christmas Classics Concerts, and she has played regularly for the Marcel Sinfonia. www.rachelsmithflute.co.uk

Andrew Campling – piano

A graduate of Keble College, Oxford, Andrew gained a MMus in Composition at Goldsmiths, London. He directs the London Docklands Singers, the Thames Chamber Choir, the Choir of the London School of Economics, and the Marcel Sinfonia. Andrew is a member of the Ivors Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Five CDs of his music have been produced including Piano Music, which was recorded here at The Space using the Steinway grand piano.
